Americans Need the Smart Grid and the Infrastructure That Supports It

So what does a two-way communications system have to do with the delivery of transmitted electricity throughout this country? Everything! Without the support of a reliable communication infrastructure, the Smart Grid would not be able to gather, sort, and transmit all that is necessary in this complex system. With modern technologies and rugged components, this system is designed to not only support, but also to protect the grid from security breaches. In the event of failures, it is designed to protect other parts of the system, alert officials of problems, and self-correct if possible. The technology behind this program may be amazing, but the job it does so consistently is something Americans have come to accept and even depend upon
